
A. Adam Mehrfar has been practicing in the specialized area
of criminal defense since 1993. He spent four years at the
Legal Aid Society Criminal Defense Division, serving in both
Brooklyn and Manhattan. He quickly rose to prominence after
he was able to get the Brooklyn District Attorneys office
to dismiss a case against a Brooklyn man who had allegedly
assaulted a police officer. Through aggressive investigation,
Adam was able to uncover a pattern of police brutality by
that officer, which eventually led to his suspension from
the police force. He went on to be known as a highly aggressive
and competent trial lawyer, obtaining many acquittals in trials
where the prosecution's evidence seemed overwhelming. He also
became the youngest-ever Vice-President of the Association
of Legal Aid Attorneys, in charge of representing 125 lawyers
in labor negotiations and office disciplinary proceedings.
In 1999, he left the Society and started his own law firm.
His experience in criminal defense representation is quite
broad, having represented individuals with charges from
armed robbery and attempted murder, to white collar fraud,
narcotics sales and rape, in both Federal and State court.
His opinion on legal matters has been widely sought by the
media- he has been published in the New York Times, quoted
in the New York Law Journal and interviewed by various local
television stations.
Adam brings a unique combination of oral advocacy and writing
skills to enable him in the art of persuasion and achieve
the best results for his clients. He is well known as a
caring and intelligent litigator who always protects his
clients interests. He is well regarded by prosecutors, judges
and other defense attorneys for his charm and litigation
skills.
In addition to his criminal defense representation, Adam
has represented various litigants in many areas of civil
litigation. He also represents several New York
City based media companies in business transactions and
negotiations, as well as a few artists in the entertainment
industry.
In 1992, Adam received a Bachelor of the Arts in History
and Political Science with an emphasis on political philosophy
from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He received his
Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1995, and has been
a member of the New York State Bar since 1996. He is also
a member of the Bar for the Federal Courts- Southern, Eastern
and Northern Districts- as well as the Supreme Court of
the United States of America.
